The JPK Sussex Project has been formed to provide a Supported Living Centre for people with a learning disability – not on a whim – but because extensive research has shown that there is a great need for suitable independent living and meaningful and realistic training and work experience in the East Sussex area.
The JPK has been designed by parent carers and people with a learning disability which mirror images how and where they wish to live and the facilities they require.
The Trustees, through the tremendous support of the community and fundraising initiatives have been able to purchase an ideal site in Old Town, Eastbourne, in the heart of a thriving community and have received planning consent. The JPK will provide accommodation and training and work experience for those currently living in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas within East Sussex.
The JPK will comprise of:• 16 en-suite studio apartments for young adults with a severe learning disability• 8 semi independent flatlets• communal rooms – lounge – dining room – kitchen – activity room• Community Centre with Tea Room – Daisy Chain Charity Shop – bakery – commercial kitchen. This area will provide meaningful training and work experience and will be open to the general public to allow for interaction with the community.
Further detailed information can be found easily within the website pages at a ‘click of the mouse’.
We would welcome your support to help raise the capital required to commence building this much needed facility and help those who, through no fault of their own, cannot help themselves.
